The watches shown in this section are models which are not officially made by Swatch. However, most of the material used to manufacture these watches originates from Swatch.
The designs of the dials are original designs and the copyright for them belongs to the respective artist who created them. the reproduction of the artwork on the dial is prohibited without the consent from the artist.
L’Orage d’Eté Prototype

Daniel J. Komar is one of the most important Swatch collectors of all time. Besides of having an incredibly important collection with magnificent prototypes and unique pieces, he had a very important role in the final development of the “Velvet Underground” series where he personally wrapped the Swatches with the stocking.
Besides the official work for Swatch in Europe and the United States and the assembly of a very impressive collection he also created a limited edition automatic conversion series called “L’Orage d’Eté” which can be translated as “summer storm”.
The dials show a quiet village scene being passed by a storm. The minute hand is taken from the model “Techno Sphere” and represents the lightning of the storm.
Each dial bears a different color combination and there were 120 different pieces made. Exactly as for the Kiki Picasso art special of 1985. As the Kiki it was also delivered with a Poster showing all the 120 different models
This model is one of only two prototypes existing and has a dial made of aluminum. This version features a black printed dial, which leaves aluminum colored outlines showing the village scene. The dial of the other prototype shows the negative of this one: black printed lines on a aluminum colored background (coming soon). Both dials are mounted inside a “Black Motion” of 1991. As a special feature one of them is signed by Daniel J. Komar on the lower part of the strap.
54th ESA Parabolic Flight Campaign, Bordeaux, France, May 2011

This watch shows the project logo for one of the scientific projects participating at the 54th Parabolic Flight Campaign in collaboration with ESA (European Space Agency). 5 of these watches exist and each one of them is a unique piece (different hands), but all of them have experienced 34.1 minutes of Zero gravity on the A300 Zero-G. The Swatch shown here has been worn during the whole project by the Principal Investigator.
Schmid-Müller Prototype platinum automatic conversion 2012

Schmid-Müller designed many different prototypes of the art special ‘Kiki Picasso’. One of the prototypes, now in the Blum-collection (BLPRO-KIKI-6), incorporates the design of the 1980ies like no other watch. The transparent dial is filled with colored squares (black, red, blue, yellow)separated by silver colored lines. Underneath the dial one can see the two turning date/day discs which have also colored or white squares on them. The appearance of the watch changes every day due to the turning discs. Moreover when the yellow, semi-transparent squares of the dial are over blue squares of the discs the color changes to green, red over yellow gets orange and so on.
The design and the colors remember the Rubik’s cube introduced in 1980 and still one of the most loved puzzles.
The piece on the picture features the same combination of dial and day/date rings, but mounted inside a platinum Swatch, which once was the model ‘Tresor Magique’. Of course the watch works perfectly.
