Lemon Jelly

Lemon Jelly

The Lemon jelly prototype incorporates almost all facettes of a test version. The case is made of translucent yellow plastic with a shiny finish. The crystal is yellow and  opaque with inclusions. The strap is a yellow version of the transparent strap of the GK 100 model and does not have holes. Not one of this elements is yellowed by time all of it is intentional.

The only parts which remind the definitive GK100 are the silver dial ring the movement and the hands.

Swatch decided not to produce this model as there were problems in producing a constant yellow color of the case and a constant opacity of the crystal. The same problems where encountered during the development of the models “Limelight”  (concerning inclusions inside the crystal, see following watch) and some Hybrids with “marbeled” cases.

This model is fully working!

Limelight Prototype

This prototype is also called GB101 “Glitter” because it features golden glittery metal flakes inside its crystal. The contrast to the black dial and the color match to the golden inscription and the golden hands makes of this watch the ideal candidate for a Christmas special.

The major concern was the water and pressure resistance of the crystal. As the inclusions are completely randomly placed, it is almost impossible to guarantee a constant resistance in mass production. Because of these issues the model has never been produced.

These  prototypes have been further developed to prototypes with real precious stones on the dial which then got the “Limelight” models.

This is a working model. It is marked with the date codes for early 1985.
